What’s old is new, again, and again, and …..

Liberty must at all hazards be supported. We have a right to it, derived from our Maker. But if we had not, our fathers have earned and bought it for us, at the expense of their ease, their estates, their pleasure, and their blood. … A Constitution of Government once changed from Freedom, can never be restored. Liberty, once lost, is lost forever. Our obligations to our country never cease but with our lives.” –John Adams

I have heard that CHANGE is coming to Washington DC, and the rest of our country! Here are a couple comments from the ‘Professional’ types.

“As one liberal academic administrator said in justifying his Draconian action in suppressing a Christian viewpoint, ‘We cannot tolerate the intolerable.’ This self-blinding, superior mindset explains how liberals can accuse conservatives of racism for their legitimate political differences with Barack Obama while demeaning, with racist epithets, Condoleezza Rice or Clarence Thomas. It’s how they can mock conservatives for being close-minded while unilaterally declaring the end to the debate on global warming because of a mythical consensus they have decreed. It’s how they can demand every vote count and exclude military ballots. It’s how they can glamorize Jimmy Carter for gallivanting to foreign countries to supervise ‘fair elections’ and pooh-pooh ACORN’s serial voter fraud in their own country. It’s how they can threaten the tax-exempt status of evangelical churches for preaching on values, even when the churches don’t endorse candidates, but fully support a liberal church’s direct electioneering for specific candidates. … It’s how they can oppose the death penalty for the guilty but protect the death penalty for the innocent unborn. … If you believe the left is tolerant, open-minded and democratic, you’re in for a rude awakening.” —columnist David Limbaugh

“Conservative Americans in particular need to understand that in this new era, the rules have changed. And to understand this change, conservatives need to begin by reading ‘Rules For Radicals,’ a book published in 1971 by noted ‘community organizer’ (and a man who is said to have influenced Mr. Obama) Saul Alinsky. Column space is limited here, so you’ll have to get a copy of the book for yourself. But consider this notion from Alinksy’s rule #5: ‘Ridicule is man’s most potent weapon. It’s hard to counterattack ridicule, and it infuriates the opposition, which then reacts to your advantage.’ And consider this language from rule #11, wherein Alinsky suggests that the main job of a ‘community organizer’ is to bait his opponent into reacting in a certain way: ‘The enemy properly goaded and guided in his reaction will be your major strength.’ Welcome to the new era.” –columnist Austin Hill

During the presidential campaign we were bombarded with bumper sticker slogans from both sides, attempting to sway the hearts and minds of the UNDECIDED voters. Once the primaries are over anyone claiming to be ‘undecided’ is looking for attention or outright lying. Change and Hope were the nebulous feel-good slogans of the Democrats, the Republicans tried to co-opt the same words and feelings. NEWS FLASH – IT DIDN’T WORK!!! Real Conservatism can win, squishy liberal appeasement won’t!

President-elect Obama was at the top of his game by using those vague phrases so everyone felt he was promising exactly what they wanted to hear. Others were just awe-struck and it didn’t matter what he said, he had their vote.

I think what someone says IS important, so lets look at a few of the promises made by Senator Obama during the campaign and see whether he stuck with them or not.

Senator Obama supported Public Campaign Financing……..

Until he found he had a real shot and could raise more money than the Public limit.

Senator Obama claimed support for the Second Amendment……..

But has voted every time to limit legal possession/use/concealed carry of firearms.

Cybercast News reports the questionnaire given to those seeking work in the Obama administration asks applicants if they or members of their family have ever owned a gun, and if so, who used it, and if it ever caused injury. The 63-question form also requires the gun registration information. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,452524,00.html

See the form here – http://graphics8.nytimes.com/packages/pdf/national/13apply_questionnaire.pdf

Address Gun Violence in Cities: Obama and Biden would repeal the Tiahrt Amendment, which restricts the ability of local law enforcement to access important gun trace information, and give police officers across the nation the tools they need to solve gun crimes and fight the illegal arms trade. Obama and Biden also favor commonsense measures that respect the Second Amendment rights of gun owners, while keeping guns away from children and from criminals. They support closing the gun show loophole and making guns in this country childproof. They also support making the expired federal Assault Weapons Ban permanent.

In July, when he addressed the NAACP’s annual convention, Sen. Barack Obama expressed his devotion to American public schools, vowing he would not ‘walk away from them’ by supporting school-choice programs like Sen. John McCain did.

Currently, Obama’s two daughters (ages 7 and 10) attend the University of Chicago Lab School, where tuition is $18,492 for grades 1-4 and $20,286 for grades 5-8. When Michelle Obama visited Washington this week, she toured only two prospective schools for her daughters: Sidwell Friends, where lower-school tuition is $28,442; and Georgetown Day, where tuition is $27,445 for grades 1-5.

Senator Obama promised tax cuts for everyone making less than $250,000 (then $200,000, then $150,000 by Joe Biden, then $120,000 by Bill Richardson) and that ‘95% of taxpayers will get a tax cut’.

It’s interesting that the bottom 50% of tax-filers paid a whopping 3% of the total tax burden. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB119786208643933077.html

The Obama plan includes a cut/rebate for low income earners, of a portion of the FICA and SS taxes paid by ALL workers. It also includes removing the cap on paying those taxes for anyone making over $104,000. Seems to me, paying that 15% or so increase will affect taxpayers at a level that’s even LOWER than Bill Richardson’s claim of $120,000 number.

Senator Obama promised change, hope, a new tone, free health care, and sooo much more. (I was hoping for doughnuts!!!)

President-elect Obama chose Rahm Emanuel (from the Clinton Admin) for his Chief of Staff. He appears to be considering Hillary Clinton for Sec of State. Other advisors include:

John PodestaWashington veteran and former chief-of-staff to Bill Clinton, headed the transition team.

Federico Pena – former Clinton energy secretary

Carol Browner – former Clinton EPA administrator

Susan Rice – former Clinton assistant secretary of state for Africa

William Daley – former Clinton commerce secretary.

Peter M. Rouse – Chief of Staff to Senator Barack Obama (D-IL), has served as chief of staff to members of the United States Congress for more than thirty years. Before joining Senator Obama in December 2004, he was chief of staff to former Senate Democratic Leader Tom Daschle (D-SD) for nineteen years.

Mona Sutphen – From 1991-2000, she was a U.S. Foreign Service Officer, and among other assignments, served in the White House at the National Security Council (1998-2000)

Jim Messina – Deputy Chief of Staff – served as chief of staff for U.S. Senators Max Baucus (D-Montana), Byron Dorgan (D-ND) and U.S. Rep Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY).

Franklin Raines and James Johnson, Two Barack Obama advisers, received preferential home loans as industry favors, apparently in deference to their executive positions heading Fannie Mae.

Inside an Obama White House his chief campaign strategists, David Axelrod and David Plouffe, would get senior posts.

Where is the change? Looks like all the same old liberal lackeys to me.

It’s short notice but here’s a political movement I can support.
