Yesterday and Today

About 8 years ago a wake up call was thrust through this nation. Radical Islamic extremists hijacked commercial airliners and used them to attack targets in New York and Washington D.C. We lost friends, family, co-workers and many we didn’t know that day. I was living in New Jersey at the time and could see the World Trade Center from my house, didn’t need to have TV coverage of that horror. I heard “I’m OK”, “I called in sick”, “I was running late”, and many other statements from friends that day as we networked to see if all were accounted for. I found out a couple days later that a friend of mine, Brian Bilcher was one of the FDNY firefighters that lost his life in the collapse of the towers. Brian gave his life doing what he loved, protecting and saving the lives of his fellow New Yorkers. RIP Brian!!!!!

Then we got mad! Then we opened our eyes! Then we put aside the petty differences we continuously argue over and STOOD TOGETHER AS A NATION. Reminiscent of the attack on Pearl Harbor that drew us into World War II the attacks of September 11, 2001, gave us the motivation to actually be Americans. There were so many volunteers in NYC that many were turned away because there wasn’t room for them all to help. No one was asking about politics, gender, race, sexual orientation, heritage, or any of the other hyphenations that have been used to force us apart for sooooo long. Of course, the media couldn’t allow that to continue so they began tearing at edges almost immediately, such as Chris Matthews lamenting how “Clinton never got this kind of shot at greatness” on Sept 13th.

We Americans pushed on inspired by the words of Todd Beamer, hero of Flight 93, saying “LET’S ROLL” and we stood up to help our fellow citizens.

Today, after 8 Years……. 2 wars….. many more lives lost. We are still here, we are still Americans!! We have had 8 years of no more attacks on American soil with many plots/attempts thwarted. Though the media continues to call US the evil doers, saying WE are the ones that caused the poor, innocent, simple muslims to attack us. It’s all our fault because of our decadence and arrogance.

Today, after the bad policies of TWO administrations we find ourselves facing very harsh realities in our personal and national economies. The politicians that created the problems are still in office and continuing to tell us they will fix it if we only give them more money and power.

Today………. WE are gathering!!!

Today……….. WE are standing up to tell those politicians “ENOUGH!!!”.

Today………. There are rallies all across this great nation. Groups of real, honest, hard-working, (over) tax-paying Americans have finally had enough of the corruption, waste, fraud and pork spending. WE are gathering to send a message to the politicians that they work for us and WE don’t approve of the massive debt and poor policies they are forcing upon us.

Yesterday, 56 brave men pledged “our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor” to move out fledgling nation into liberty and freedom.

Today, millions of brave Americans are standing up and telling the politicians in Washington D.C. that they aren’t allowed to steal “our lives, our fortunes and our sacred honor”.

Stand up and make your voice heard. Remind the politicians that they work for you. If you don’t like what they are doing, tell them to change it or they will be voted out of office. The only things politicians understand are power and money, if there poll numbers drop and they realize they won’t hold onto their power they MAY start to listen.

OK, I’m headed out to my local TEA Party to do my part.
